Perforated Filter Tubes — The Shell Carries the Load, the Medium Sets the Rating
Rolled perforated cylinders, drums and support cores in 304 and 316L — plain cut edges, collars,
flanges or sealed end caps, with mesh-lined options where the rating comes from the medium inside.
A perforated filter element has two layers with two different jobs, and one of the most common
specification errors in filtration is treating them as one. The perforated shell carries the differential
pressure and sets the open area — it is the structure. The medium inside it — mesh, cloth or your
own pleated element — sets the micron rating and does the actual filtration. Specify a hole size
thinking it is the rating and you get an element that holds together and filters nothing. Tell us
which job the perforated layer is doing, and whether it is a finished element or a support core
for your own medium, and the specification follows from that.
The second thing that decides performance is the seam. A rolled perforated tube has exactly
one joint — the longitudinal seam weld — and it is the only place where unfiltered fluid can
bypass the medium along the length of the element. A seam that is not full-penetration, or
not cleaned and passivated, is a bypass path that no amount of correct hole size will
compensate for. Aperture shape matters here too: square and rectangular apertures
buy you more open area than round holes at the same pitch, but they give up diagonal
stiffness — and a perforated tube is loaded in hoop by the pressure across its wall. We
will tell you where that trade-off lands for your duty rather than quoting the highest
open area we can punch.
| Form | Tubes and cylinders, drums, flat and curved panels—rolled to your diameter and length |
| Aperture | Round on 60°staggered pitch;square /rectangular on straight grid;slotted |
| Aperture size | [1]-[25]mm |
| Open area | [201-[60]%typical with round staggered;higher with square,at some cost in stiffness |
| Materias | 304,316L,duplex stainless—matched to your housing and process fluid |
| Construction | Rolled perforated sheet with longitudinal seam weld;end caps, flanges, collars or plain cut edges |
| Layers | Single-layer perforated shell,or perforated shell with internal mesh layer |
| Role | Finished filter element,or support core for your own filter medium |
| Surface | Bright finish,pickled and passivated,or electropolished on request |
Why buyers consolidate their filter elements here
Shell and medium built as one assembly. Where the rating comes from an internal mesh, the perforated shell and
the mesh are made to work as a pair rather than sourced separately and expected to fit.
The seam is inspected and recorded. The single joint on the element is treated as the critical feature it is, with
the inspection documented rather than assumed.
Aperture chosen against hoop strength, not just open area. We will quote the pattern your differential pressure
supports, and say so when a higher open area would be a mistake.
End fittings made to your housing. Plain edge, collar, flange or sealed cap — matched to how the element
locates and seals, so it does not bypass at the connection.
Send your element drawing or sample, diameter, length, aperture or rating required, medium, material and
quantity. We will confirm the pattern, the seam detail and the end fittings, quote FOB [Tianjin] and give you
a lead time — usually within [24] hours.
